Honoring Officer Joe Burson in Two Upcoming Events

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Holly Springs, Georgia community will honor fallen Police Officer Joe Burson in two upcoming events on Saturday, March 26th and Saturday, April 9th.

Joe Burson’s parents, brother, and current and former Holly Springs Police Officers are participating in the 2022 Police Unity Tour, a 300-mile bike ride to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Memorial, where Burson’s name will be listed this year. With these two public events, the family hopes to raise at least $12,000 for the Police Unity Tour.

Any funds raised beyond the $12,000 goal will go towards the Joe Burson Memorial Scholarship, benefiting NJROTC students in Cherokee County.

On Saturday, March 26th, Big Woods Goods (350 Ronnell Rd, Canton, GA 30115) will host an outdoor event. At 2:30 PM, a special presentation will unveil Officer Burson’s name on the Georgia Law Enforcement Moving Memorial (a 30-foot long truck which features all names of fallen officers in Georgia). The Moving Memorial will be on-site from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. At 3:00 PM, Rusted Soul will perform. Joe Burson was the drummer in Rusted Soul, performing throughout the metro Atlanta area.

On Saturday, April 9th, The Springs Church (4775 Holly Springs Pkwy, Canton, GA 30115) will host a BBQ lunch from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and present a special memorial concert at 5:00 PM. The concert is organized by Joe Burson’s brother, John-Thomas Burson, who will perform original music for trumpet. Also included on the program are Joe Burson’s friends who played music with him, in addition to several local music professionals and composers.

Burson's brother believes live music is a powerful way to unite the community and honor Joe, as music was such a strong influence in Joe's life.

Tax deductible donations for the Police Unity Tour and the Joe Burson Memorial Scholarship may be made via the Friends of Holly Springs Police Foundation (http://friendsofhollyspringspolicefoundationinc.org/). For details on the upcoming events, please visit https://johnthomasburson.com/
